Guge and Carnick to Judge Marketing and
Advertising Competitions

Claremont, Calif., February 2, 2007 – Gail Guge and Scott Carnick of Claremont-based Wilkin Guge Marketing have been invited to judge two of the communications industry’s most prestigious awards competitions this February: Guge will judge marketing campaigns at the International Marketing Association (INMA)’s 72nd Annual Newspaper Marketing Awards in Los Angeles; Carnick will evaluate creative entries for the American Advertising Federation (AAF)’s 2007 Coastal California, Bakersfield and Yuma/El Centro ADDY award competitions.

“The INMA has a rich tradition of honoring the best marketing practices of newspapers nationwide,” said Gail Guge, managing partner and brand strategist of Wilkin Guge Marketing. “As newspapers continue to struggle with declining circulation, it will be interesting to see the brand messages and online trends being used on the world’s stage to attract new readers. Judging those campaigns will be no easy task.”

Carnick added, “Judging a show from a different region is a great opportunity to get a peek at work you might not see otherwise. Plus, you invariably come back motivated to do better work yourself.”

Each year, the INMA receives more than 1,000 Newspaper Marketing Award entries from over 30 countries. Entries are judged, and awards based upon, excellence in concept, creativity, copy, graphic design, production and results. Past winners have included The Boston Globe, The New York Times and The Orange County Register. This year’s winners will be announced at the INMA World Congress, scheduled for April 25-27 in Paris.

With over 60,000 entries annually, the ADDY awards recognizes all forms of advertising and features a 3-tier level of judging beginning with local, regional and national/international competitions. Past winners include Cingular Wireless, Altoids, Microsoft XBOX 360 and Heineken USA. In 2003, Wilkin Guge Marketing won the AAF’s highest honor, an international ADDY award, for its advertising campaign for Great Dane Adoptions & Rescue.
